Our Story
Our Story
We love fashion but we love people and our world more and are
committed to making fashion & lifestyles fair for the worker,
sustainable for the world and guilt free for the shopper.
Every month our venue of choice is transformed into a green
fashion mecca offering the smart shopper revamped, upcycled,
previously loved and locally made fair-fashion and accessories from
across Ireland & Europe.
With more than 40 stalls every month and something to suit every
budget, style and taste, the Souk has already become a monthly
staple in the green fashionistas diary.
What's more our reduce, reuse, recycle ethos actually cuts down
waste to landfill within local communities and sets the trend for
Smarter Shopping... the choice of the forward thinking
fashionista.
In November 2010 the Fashion Souk won Belfast City Council
Brighter Belfast's reduce, reuse, recycle award fighting off
competition from Ikea and Sustrans and in April 2011 The Fashion
Souk were highly commended in the Best Green Business Category at
the Belfast Business Awards.
Humble beginnings
The Fashion Souk was established in its current format in
February 2010 as part of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board's
Sunday in the City Initiative (a big thank you is due). During our
first year we enjoyed getting to know both stall holders and
visitors, trying out new ideas (some better than others) and doing
our bit to promote an ethical approach to consumerism.
We understand you want to look good and that budgets are tight but
we believe that you will be your most fabulous self when you shop
in a way that protects your future home environment, offers justice
to factory workers and supports local talent.
How the Souk works
We have four gorgeous fashion zones for you to discover at our
signature fashion fair which brings you previously loved, vintage
and retro treasures - perfect for a rummager!
The Fairly Sourced zone that offers up fabulous, ethically made
fashion & accessories and Lovingly Made showcasing revamped,
upcycled and the hand-made wares of Ireland's leading
designer/makers.
Getting involved
The best part is that anyone can get involved. Why not spring
clean your wardrobe and make some money while you are at it by
taking a stall in our fair fashion markets?
We also offer 3 charity stalls every month so you can even raise
money for your favourite cause.
Don't miss our monthly market + dates.
